The natural cation exchange capacity (CEC) of peat and clay will also absorb any excess nutrients from the water and make them available through the roots or release them back into the water once it is depleted. Clay improves consistency and acts as a base, resulting in excellent texture. Similar to peat, clay serves as a natural layer to store excess nutrients and maintain the biological balance in the tank. Micronutrient content has been supplemented under laboratory supervision to ensure that aquatic plants have an abundance of trace elements, while maintaining the chemical balance of the tank. AF Natural substrate is rich in micronutrients, so Aquaforest does not recommend using fertilizers containing micronutrients for the first three months unless the plants show visible signs of deficiency.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n \u003cp\u003eHOW TO USE:\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003e -1 Install heater cable if used.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003e -2 Spread the substrate on the bottom of the tank and compact it to obtain a layer approximately 2-2.5 cm thick.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003e -3 Cover with about 3 cm of gravel or sand.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003e -4 Gently fill the aquarium with about 15 cm of water. To avoid disturbing the substrate, we recommend placing a plate or dish on the bottom and directing the water flow onto it.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003e -5 Place the plants in the substrate.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003e \u003cspan style=\"font-size: 0.875rem;\"\u003e-6 Fill the aquarium with water.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003e 10 L of AF Natural Substrate should be sufficient for a 200 L aquarium with a 100 cm x 40 cm bottom.
