Reptiles and amphibians are cold-blooded animals and often use solar-heated surfaces in their natural habitats to warm themselves. The Exo Terra Heat Mat is a terrarium substrate heater that simulates solar-heated surfaces in the terrarium. The Exo Terra Heat Mat is an ideal primary heat source for tropical or temperate reptile and amphibian species and is essential as a heat source for many nocturnal desert species. The Exo Terra Heat Mat is permanently attached to the terrarium, forming a solid bond for optimal heat transfer. It can be used with an Exo Terra Thermostat or in combination with other additional heat sources as needed for species that require high temperatures.
