AF Natural Substrate is a nutrient-rich clay and peat-based substrate for
aquascaping and planted aquariums. The readily available micronutrients and
the plant food contained in it creates a fertile and similar environment to that
present in Nature, ideal for the support and long-term growth of plants.
AF Natural Substrate is very suitable for the development of a healthy root system
and helps aquatic plants thrive. Peat and clay have a capacity
natural cation exchange (CEC) which will also absorb all excess nutrients
from the water, and at the same time will make them available to the plants through the
roots, or will release them back into the water if they become scarce.
Features and Benefits: Carefully selected peat creates excellent
conditions for the root system, and supplies the plants with all the minerals and
necessary trace elements. Clay improves the structure and acts as a base,
thus giving an excellent consistency. Clay, like peat, provides a layer
natural for the accumulation of excess nutrients, and maintains ionic balance
in the tank. The micronutrient content was supplemented under the supervision of the
laboratory to ensure that the aquatic plants have plenty of
trace elements, while the chemical balance remains stable. AF Natural Substrate is rich
of micronutrients, therefore for the first three months Aquaforest does not recommend the use of
fertilizers containing micronutrients, unless the plants show obvious
signs of deficiency,
10 L of AF Natural Substrate should be sufficient for a 200 L aquarium
with a base measuring 100x40 cm. The substrate could lower and stabilize
the pH of the water, so it is recommended to use dedicated tests.
