Drosophila (fruit flies)

Drosophila, commonly called "fruit flies," are the primary food of small frogs (such as milkflies, dendrobates, bombinae, etc.).

Animal Instinct provides two species, the melanogaster and the hydei.
Melanogaster are smaller, and are suitable for newly metamorphosed frogs or specific small frog species, such as Ranitomeya variegae or Oophaga pumilio.
Hydei are the most popular. They are larger than the former and are suitable for larger frogs, such as most species of dendrobates: auratus, Leucomelas, Tinctorius, or phyllobates.

It is recommended to enrich the fruit flies with supplements at least twice a week, you can add classic calcium powder and especially DENDROCARE, available from Animal Instinct
