HOLLOW BIO BEADS is a biological filter material with an innovative, patented hollow design that promotes the formation of deep-seated denitrification zones. Made of inert ceramic, it has a large usable surface area of approximately 700 m2/L. Thanks to Open Porosity™ technology, it has a unique structure with open macro-pores that ensures perfect colonization and simultaneously delays clogging, extending maintenance times. Its shape allows for a different distribution of NH+4 and NO-2 ions, which can therefore be actively absorbed. It has a low impact on TDS and does not alter the pH value (pH 7/7.5). Most of the pores are located in the 45/55 µm to 10 nm range, meaning the surface is biologically and truly usable for bacterial colonization.
